My
Story
I’m Dr. Katie Rowan, a board-certified Internal Medicine physician and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner who works with women navigating the complex transitions of perimenopause and menopause as well as people with chronic elusive symptoms that never seem to fit in a box. Through thoughtful, extended visits, we get to the bottom of what's going on - and build a plan that works for you.
After years of practicing primary care and treating a wide range of conditions, I found myself especially drawn to the areas where patients often felt dismissed or overlooked. I began focusing on the kinds of issues that haven’t historically had clear answers—where people are told their symptoms are 'normal' or brushed off without real support.
I started by dedicating hundreds of hours to deepening my knowledge of the physiology, symptoms, and treatment options for perimenopause and menopause and bringing this into my primary care practice. I’ve since shared that knowledge through continuing education presentations for clinicians, helping them better understand and support the women walking into their practices.

Along the way, I also became increasingly focused on patients dealing with chronic, unexplained symptoms—those frequently labeled as anxiety, depression, IBS, or simply “normal.” What I’ve learned is this: just because a condition wasn’t taught in medical school or doesn’t come with a clear-cut diagnosis doesn’t mean it isn’t real—or that it can’t be addressed meaningfully.

I follow evidence-based medicine wherever possible, but I also recognize that science doesn’t always have all the answers. That’s why I’m open to thinking outside the box, especially when it comes to patients who feel unheard or overlooked by the traditional system.
What brings me the most fulfillment as a physician is taking the time to truly listen—to understand my patients' stories, their concerns, and their goals—and to work together on a thoughtful, personalized plan forward. If you’ve felt dismissed or told “everything looks normal” when you know something isn’t right, you’re exactly the kind of person I’m here to help.
